TRANSIT – International Exchange Exhibitions
“TRANSIT” is a word that evokes the idea of “passage” in German, English, French, and other languages. This title was first used in 2001 for an international exchange exhibition between Nagoya Zokei University and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in Germany. It reflects the idea of people and artworks moving back and forth between countries, deepening mutual understanding as they “pass through” different cultures.
Carrying this meaning, the name continued to be used almost every year until 2018, fostering strong ties through exchange exhibitions with partner institutions in Europe, Asia, and North America. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, these activities were temporarily put on hold. In 2025, we finally resumed TRANSIT with one of our long-standing exchange partners, Hong Kong Baptist University's Academy of Visual Arts.

TRANSIT 2025
Students from Hong Kong Baptist University's Academy of Visual Arts came to Nagoya and exhibited their works in Nagoya Zokei University's main gallery on June 6th to 13th 2025. Students from Nagoya Zokei University also participated in the exhibition, marking the revival of TRANSIT after five years. In January 2026, we will travel to Hong Kong to complete the ‘transit.'
